Practise blending phase 2 phonemes using the game ‘What’s in the Box?’
These spelling games are perfect for small groups or a class to practise blending sounds to read words using phonemes from phase 2 of Letters and Sounds. It could be used as part of an intervention programme or within whole class or group phonics sessions.
Pupils will blend the phonemes to read the word cards and find the image of the word from inside a box.
What is blending? Blending is when we say the sounds in words, blending them together to read a word. You would blend the sounds c – a – t to read the word cat.
