This whole-school primary writing resource pack is designed to inspire writing linked to the European Football Championships in 2021 - The Euros! Build on the excitement pupils might have, especially after the tournament’s postponement in 2020.
The resource pack is based around the theme ‘The Winning Goal’. The initial slides on the PowerPoint could be used as an assembly to introduce Euro 2020, and the task.
Pupils will then imagine what it might be like to score the winning goal of a match or even the whole tournament before writing a story, newspaper report (KS2 only) or recount based on this.
A range of planning sheets are provided to support pupils to organise their ideas before writing, and lesson notes will guide teachers through the activities included.
