This home learning pack is designed for children in Years 3 to 6 (ages 8-11) to complete, with some adult support where possible, over a week, based around the topic of ‘Feelings and Emotions’.

It offers a range of activities covering reading, writing and health education using the story ‘Kimi’s Bullet Journal’ to prompt to help develop pupils’ understanding of emotions and promoting positive mental health. the activities could be used as part of a homeschool curriculum.

National Curriculum programme of study links

Reading

  • Apply their growing knowledge of root words, prefixes and suffixes, to read aloud and to understand the meaning of new words that they meet;
  • Check that a text makes sense to them, answering questions including using inference.

Writing

  • Use simple organisational devices (years 3/4);
  • Use further organisational and presentational devices to structure text and guide the reader (years 5/6).

RSHE (PSHE)

  • Know that mental wellbeing is a normal part of daily life in the same way as physical health
