Phonics Phase 2 Game - Sound Segmenting

Practise segmenting words that contain phase 2 phonemes using the game ‘Sound Segmenting’

These spelling games are perfect for small groups or a class to practise segmenting words into their individual sounds to help spell the word. It could be used as part of an intervention programme or within whole class or group phonics sessions.

Pupils will look at an image card and say the word before writing it using their knowledge of phonemes that they have been taught.

What is segmenting?
Segmenting is when we split the word into its sounds to help with spelling. You would segment the word cat into the sounds c – a – t.
