Pupils will look at how rhyme can be used in jokes to create a surprise punchline. They will be able to write their own funny jokes to help them become Britain’s Funniest Class! An element of create risk-taking is important – children will learn that some jokes they write will be good, others will fail – perseverance is the key.

Learning objectives:

To think of examples of rhyming pairs.
To create their own joke based on rhyme.
