Dr Jane Goodall is an advocate at the COP26 summit, which will take place from 31 October to 12 November, in Glasgow, Scotland. The meeting will bring together world leaders so they can come up with solutions to help the environment. This resources pack includes an article from The Week Junior magazine, along with a sheet of activities designed to get children thinking, talking and writing about what the story means to them.

Debate
The COP26 summit is set to be a pretty impressive event. But will it really make a difference to climate change? Surely what we need is for all people to make sacrifices in their own lives - travelling and consuming less - rather than expecting governments and corporations to sort everything out? Or is it only by grand gatherings like this that the seriousness of the issue will really be brought to everyone’s attention? What do you think?

Writing challenges
Imagine that you have been asked to make a speech at the COP26 conference. Write an introduction for your talk, explaining what you are going to cover and using persuasive and inspiring language to grab the attention of every listener.

Or

Write a letter to Jane Goodall, telling her how you feel about climate change, so she can share your views with the delegates at COP26.

Investigate

The aim of the COP26 summit is to bring various parties together to tackle climate change - and this huge task has been broken down into four main goals. Find out what these are and explain each one in your own words.
