A survey has found that almost two thirds of British people are planning to take their main holiday in the UK this year. This resources pack includes an article from The Week Junior magazine, along with a sheet of activities designed to get children thinking, talking and writing about what the story means to them.
Isn’t it time that we all made the UK our first choice holiday destination? Not only would we be boosting British business, we would also be helping to save the planet by cutting down on the pollution of travel. Or is it important to go abroad and see the world? Surely, going to other countries helps to improve tolerance and understanding between nations? What do you think?
Write an advertisement to promote the area in which you live as a holiday destination.
Write a set of instructions for enjoying a holiday in the UK.
Research a location in the UK that you have never visited before and, preferably, is not already famous for being a top tourist destination (such as Cornwall or London). Write a fact file about your chosen place, outlining its geographical features and climate as well as describing a few of its best attractions.
