What is a plural?
Plurals, or the plural form (as opposed to the singular form), are words that denote more than one of something.
In the English language this is most commonly done by adding the suffix ‘-s’ to a word, or the suffix ‘-es’.
However, there are irregular plurals such as the plural of sheep (sheep) or the plural of child (children). People will often give the example of the plural of octopus as being ‘octopi’, but actually ‘octopuses’ is the preferred term, and as such it isn’t an irregular plural.

Suffixes are letters, or groups of letters, that are added to the end of words to make a new word or change the meaning of word.
