These bright, appealing grammar worksheets are a great help for practising and revising the use of prefixes in Y4. There are three worksheets in total, covering the following five sections – ‘understand’, ‘challenge’, ‘test’, ‘explain’ and ‘apply’.
    - Understand
 Using a dictionary, students complete four partial words with the most appropriate prefix from a choice of 10 
    - Challenge
 Students are tasked with using the prefixes ‘un’ and ‘dis’ in two separate sentences with accompanying image prompts. 
    - Test
 Students add prefixes to existing words and consider how their meanings change as a result  
    - Explain
 ‘Using your own words, explain how a prefix can change the meaning of words. Use examples.’ 
    - Apply
 A creative activity, whereby students write a holiday postcard which includes many words that use prefixes.

 A prefix is a combination of letters, words or numbers that can be placed before other words to change their meaning.
