Would you like to harness your pupils’ interest in the FIFA Men’s World Cup?

This Key Stage 2 resource pack provides resources to harness their enthusiasm through commentating on situations that football teams may experience before, during and after a match.

Pupils will create an oral commentary to accompany images from football matches, clips of football matches or football activities that you could recreate in school. They will explore the language commentators use and identify how they show enthusiasm when speaking to develop their oracy skills.

After creating their commentaries, pupils will write a short sports article recounting the event, taking into account different viewpoints by adding comments from players, managers and the supporting fans.
