Many children get excited about Bonfire Night but do they know why we have fireworks on the 5th November?

Introduce Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot to pupils in year 1 and year 2 using this simple PowerPoint. Pupils can then recount the events, demonstrating their knowledge of why fireworks and bonfires are lit on the 5th November each year.

The resource could be used as part of a topic day based on Bonfire Night, or over a series of English lessons.

This resource pack includes:

  • Bonfire Night PowerPoint
  • Recount worksheet: Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot
  • Themed writing paper
  • Teacher’s notes
