Are your pupils excited by the FIFA Men’s World Cup tournament?

Harness their enthusiasm for football by reading the football poem included in this resource pack, inspiring them to create their own.

Writing poetry allows pupils to explore and develop their use of language. Using this resource pack, pupils in Key Stage 1 will read an example poem and look at how verbs are used. They will then write their own poems, using the images provided in the pack for inspiration or after watching football matches.

This Key Stage 1 resource includes:

  • PPT - teaching slides
  • Football inspired poem: ‘Goal!’
  • Football images
  • Poetry planning sheet
  • Themed writing paper
