These PDF worksheets, covering statutory spelling words (or ‘tricky words’) for years 5 and 6, are an excellent way for children in UKS2 to revise and practise spelling these words.
The words included in this resource are often misspelt and are words that pupils must learn (equip, bruise, bargain, shoulder, restaurant, achieve, familiar, thorough, foreign, persuade, queue, neighbour, leisure) from the Year 5 and 6 word list.
The worksheets include five different activities in which children look at spelling patterns, identify misspelt words and apply their spellings in context. They can be used within lessons, as an assessment or as a homework task.

Tick which words are spelt correctly
Check
Circle the words that are spelt correctly, and place the words into the correct sentences
Use
Use the images, and the words underneath, to write a sentence about each
Change
Read each sentence and change the underlined word or phrase for a new word, which should be one of the Y5/6 statutory spelling words
Apply
Write a description of the picture, trying to use as many of the words listed as possible
