Intended to assist with Y6 comprehension activities, this pack includes a set of three text extracts with questions accompanying illustrations from the following books:

  • Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
  • Dracula by Bram Stoker
  • The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle

This download contains one 17-page illustrated PDF featuring three different comprehension challenges, each themed around a different classic text, and a separate answer sheet. Teachers can print off the specific text and questions they require, and use the resulting worksheet to provide a quick burst of comprehension practice – ideal for morning work, short reading sessions or for sparking interest in a particular classic text.

Each challenge includes a brief 300- to 400-word extract from a classic text, alongside a range of reading-related questions that focus on the key skills of inference, information retrieval and vocabulary use.
