The materials in this pack are designed to support children in developing their inference skills. Children can practise making inferences based on the visual clues in the pictures provided, and using evidence to support their answers.

This download contains the following:

  • ‘Inference question cards’ – one sheet of 11 coloured question cards (eg. ‘What happened before this picture?’; ‘What is the problem?’
  • ‘Inference recording sheets’ – 29 sheets that include an image prompt from which children can draw inferences, with lined space beneath for them to write down their inferences and supporting evidence. Children can add titles to the images using a space at the top of each sheet.
  • ‘Inference images’ – 29 full page images that can be used for classroom displays or to facilitate group discussions.
  • ‘Making inferences’ presentation – 11-slide PowerPoint presentation that models the process of constructing inferences from images and using evidence to support these
