The country comes together each year on the 11th November to remember and honour members of the armed forces who died in conflicts past. A Remembrance Service is held on the second Sunday in November to mark the occasion.
Explore the symbol of remembrance, the red poppy, with young learners. They can create their own poppy using the materials provided. These can then be taken home or used to create a ‘field of poppies’ as part of a display in your learning environment. A selection of books is listed, which could be read to the class, to help them understand the significance of Remembrance Day.
