As the seasons change, explore describing a setting using this resource pack, based on a scarecrow comparing the summer and autumn months. Pupils will have an opportunity to use antonyms to show contrast between the two seasons. In the writing task, pupils will write a recount from the scarecrow’s point of view with a story start included to inspire writing.

This resource pack can provide a writing opportunity during the autumn months as part of work on harvest. Or it can be used at other points in the school year as an opportunity for pupils to show contrasts in their writing.

This pack includes:

  • Scarecrows in autumn and summer images
  • Scarecrow’s Sorrow writing prompt
  • Planning sheet
  • Themed writing paper
