King Charles III became King in September 2022 and his coronation will take place in May 2023.
But what do your pupils know about Coronation Regalia used in this national ceremony?
A text is provided with information about the Coronation Regalia, part of the Crown Jewels, and their history. Comprehension questions are provided to check pupils' understanding of what has been read. Images and further activities are also included to encourage discussion and allow pupils to design new Crown Jewels for King Charles III.
The Crown Jewels are a collection of precious treasures that belong to the nation. The monarch looks after these on behalf of the country and they are kept at the Tower of London, where they are guarded night and day. Some of the Crown Jewels are part of a collection called the Coronation Regalia. These are used as part of the coronation ceremony when a new King or Queen is crowned.
