Writing Templates - Creating Characters Worksheets KS1 and KS2

Creating interesting characters for stories can improve pupils' story writing when working independently. Using the planning sheets provided, pupils can develop ideas for characters that can be used in the stories they write or stored in a writing ideas book to be used in future stories.

The worksheets provide the opportunity for primary school pupils to create and develop interesting characters from year 1 to year 6.

Pupils should be taught to consider what they are going to write before beginning by:

• planning or saying out loud what they are going to write about
• writing down ideas and /or key words, including new vocabulary
