Year 4 Verb Inflections (Was/Were) – KS2 SPaG Challenge Mat

This bright, appealing grammar worksheet is an excellent way to practise and revise using the verb inflections was/were in Year 4.

This primary resource is divided into five sections:

• Understand
  Circle the correct word for each sentence, then write the correct word in the next set of sentences
• Challenge
  Write sentences using the subject and the correct verb inflection
• Test
  Tick the sentence that is correct in each pair
• Explain
  Describe when we need to use ‘was’ in our sentences, and when we need to use ‘were’. Then write a sentence for each of the verbs ‘was’ and ‘were’
• Apply
  Write a description of the image provided in the past tense, using standard English and thinking carefully about your use of was/were

Activities include SATs-style questions and opportunities for creative writing responses, with eye-catching images as prompts.
