Encourage children’s curiosity about the natural world around them by learning a classic nursery rhyme about birds. Young learners can learn the nursery rhyme ‘Two Little Dickie Birds’ and act it out using the puppets provided.

They can then begin to change the rhyme, changing the phrase ‘dickie birds’ to the names of British Birds that they may have seen in the grounds of your learning environment or in their gardens at home.

These resources can be used at any time of year, or as part of the RSPB’s Big Schools’ Birdwatch in January and February each year. Visit the Big Schools’ Birdwatch website for more information about this national RSPB event.

Included in this EYFS resource pack

  • ‘Two Little Dickie Birds’ nursery rhyme
