Celebrate the achievements of a variety of inspirational women on International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

Women have contributed to important scientific discoveries over the centuries, but they were not always recognised for their contributions at the time.

With this free assembly script, supported by PPT slides, you can teach pupils about significant work that female scientists have completed throughout history, and discuss the idea that someone’s sex should not be a barrier to achievement in any field.

The resource includes a PowerPoint presentation, discussion prompts and suggested follow-up activities. You'll guide pupils to explore questions about fairness and representation.

When is International Day of Women and Girls in Science?

International Day of Women and Girls in Science is a United Nations‑designated observance on 11th February each year.
