Two detailed WAGOLL model texts show exactly what a good one looks like, allowing pupils to read, annotate and explore the key features of fantasy writing.
What’s included
The pack contains:
- Fantasy story ingredients – guidance on creating an imaginary world, building rules for a fantasy setting and using different senses to bring it to life. The sheet also includes success criteria and tips on how to journey from a real-world setting into a fantasy setting.
- Fantasy story plan – a writing template that provides space for children to plan their story, including characters, setting, plot and key events.
- Two model texts (WAGOLLs) – example fantasy stories which children can read, annotate and identify features such as exciting openings, tension and suspense, problem and resolution, effective dialogue, powerful verbs, descriptive adjectives and imagery.
