Children's Mental Health Week activities and resources
Whole-school resources with assemblies
This whole-school resource for Children’s Mental Health Week in February helps pupils explore how connecting with others supports mental wellbeing.
It includes an assembly and KS1/KS2 activities that show pupils how positive relationships, friendships and self-care are an important part of everyday life.

Alternatively, our other whole-school resource for Children’s Mental Health Week explores the people who help us grow. It will help pupils understand how others can support them to develop skills and cope with different situations.
It includes an assembly and KS1/KS2 activities that reinforce the importance of mental wellbeing as a normal part of everyday life, alongside physical health.

Activity packs
These free KS1 and KS2 activity packs help pupils recognise, name and talk about a range of emotions through discussion cards, visuals and guided activities. The resources provide flexible, curriculum-linked opportunities to support emotional wellbeing and positive self-care.

Home learning packs
This home learning pack for Years 3-6 uses the included story, Kimi’s Bullet Journal, to help pupils explore feelings and emotions through reading, writing and health education activities.

For younger learners in Years 1-2, our Liam’s Tummy Ache pack provides a range of activities to help children recognise and talk about their emotions. At the same time, they'll develop their reading, writing and wellbeing skills.
Designed for use over a week, these packs support positive mental health. You can also use them as part of a homeschool curriculum.

Oracy packs
This free resource, created in partnership with First News, helps KS2 pupils explore emotions through discussion. Children will read a news story, then debate whether writing down and discarding negative feelings can really improve mood.
The resource also includes follow-up writing tasks – either reflecting on pupils' own experience or creating a story. There's also an investigation activity to research other simple ways to boost wellbeing.

Meanwhile, this free resource pack helps KS2 pupils explore the full range of emotions, including challenging feelings like anger, fear and sadness, through discussion, writing and reflection.
Oracy tasks encourage debate on mental health. Meanwhile follow-up activities include diary writing and acrostic poems to support thinking, discussion and literacy skills.

Y2 writing pack
This Year 2 writing unit from our Real Writing collection uses the model text How to Keep Healthy to help pupils explore practical ways to support physical and mental wellbeing.
Over two to three weeks, pupils will study explanation texts, learn precise health-related vocabulary, and produce their own writing about staying healthy, linking ideas to science and RSE lessons.

More Children's Mental Health Week resources
This free KS1 and KS2 lesson plan helps pupils explore how to build stronger connections with friends, their community and themselves.
