The resources in this Writing Burst Suspense Pack provide all you need to teach five 15-minute lessons on building suspense in a piece of writing. The lessons are designed to be taught across a week. Alternatively, you may wish to teach the sessions in larger chunks, spread over a longer period of time.
Using sample model texts, pupils will learn to identify features of suspenseful writing, undertaking tasks and challenge that encourage them to use similar techniques in their own work, leading to an extended writing opportunity that could be used to evidence greater depth skills.
