This download contains 7 two-page ‘Spelling Review’ worksheets (alongside an accompanying answers document and teacher notes) that cover the following areas:

  • Word endings which sound like ‘shuss’, spelt ‘-cious’ or ‘-tious’
  • Word endings which sound like ‘shil’ spelt ‘-cial’ or ‘-tial
  • Words ending in ‘-ant’, ‘-ance/-ancy’, ‘-ent’, ‘-ence/ -ency’
  • Words ending in ‘-able’ and ‘-ible’ also ‘-ably’ and ‘-ibly’
  • Words containing the letter-string ‘ough’
  • Silent letters
  • Words with the long ‘e’ sound spelt ‘ei’ after ‘c’

Each worksheet sets students the following tasks:

  1. Identify misspelt words within a grid and write the words spelt correctly beside them
  2. Identify eight scrambled words within a grid and write the correct word beside each – the words in question can all be found in unscrambled form in an adjacent panel containing a total of 12 words
  3. Complete four empty text fields with the letters of missing word, hinted at by an accompanying clue. The words in question can also be found in the panel used in the previous task
